Given descripts by the New York Times and others as the "Beverly Hills of the Desert" or "a desert version of Miami's South Beach", Scottsdale is a premiere living and tourist destination. Located just northeast of Phoenix the city offers beautiful views of the McDowell Mountains and the tranquil Sonoran Desert.
Founded in 1888 but not incorporated until the 1950's, the city has grown to be one of the fastest growing cities in the US. Scottsdale is home to over 120 art galleries and has actually become a center for art in the United States. The galleries are most famous for Western and Native American themes. The annual art festival held every March draws 40,000 visitors over its three day running period.
Scottsdale sits in the Salt River Region known as the Valle of the Sun due to sunshine more than 330 days of the year.
